divh2Masonry And Plastering Work/h2pThe primary purpose of this position is to perform masonry, plastering, cement finishing work in constructing, installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying structures and items requiring close tolerance fit, structural soundness, fine finishes, and decorative effects./ppResponsibilities include:/pulliPlanning and laying out work from blueprints, rough sketches, construction drawings, surveys, and work orders./liliUsing and maintaining tools and equipment./liliMaintaining bench stock levels of parts, materials, tools, and equipment./liliPerforming masonry tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of interior and exterior surfaces and structures./liliApplying and finishing plaster surfaces in the construction and repair of interior walls and ceilings and stucco exterior walls./liliMaintaining, repairing, and constructing cement and concrete surfaces./liliUtilizing safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment./liliComputing concrete requirements and operating a cement mixer to mix and prepare concrete ensuring that the proper amount of cement, sand, stone, and water are used./li/ulpQualifications:/ppApplicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3600 Structural And Finishing Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a MASONRY (STRUCTURAL FINISHER) without more than normal supervision./ppYour qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:/pulliKnowledge of masonry and plasterer methods and techniques; the methods, sequences, and techniques of cement work; and the techniques and procedures of brick, block, and stonework and skill in cutting and shaping to complete corners./liliKnowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; and of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation./liliSkill in constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying structures; in setting forms in curved and straight lines; and to perform decorative brickwork through placement of brick of different colors to create various designs and patterns./liliAbility to produce finished products with precise fits, accurate dimensions, structural soundness, and finished appearance; to apply safety and environmental standards and requirements; and to use and maintain power tools, hand tools, and related equipment./liliAbility to read and interpret complex blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications./liliAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing./li/ulpPhysical Effort:/ppEmployee is frequently required to perform heavy lifting up to 90 pounds in carrying bricks, block, stone, and sand. Employee is continually required to stand, walk, climb, and bend while working and must frequently climb ladders and scaffolds. When performing cement and plaster work, employee is required to perform heavy lifting up to 100 pounds while carrying cement, mortar, scaffolds, ladders, and other materials. Cement work requires extensive standing, walking, kneeling, and bending./ppWorking Conditions:/ppWorks inside shops and outside at job sites. At job sites, may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and is subject to danger of falling when working from ladders and scaffolds and subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions. Uses protective devices such as hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, respirators, and gloves. Employee is also exposed to dust and dirt while mixing mortar and while handling various masonry materials./p/div
