A healthcare organization on Long Island is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their growing Gastro team in Nassau County and provide nursing care to patients.

• Assist with applicant screening, selection, training, providing feedback for performance evaluations, and providing information related to employee discipline and termination of staff
• Review patient charts for missing labs, reports, and/or open orders and reviews as part of care team huddles
• Prepare equipment and aid the Physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients
• Review the Electronic Health Record (EHR) active medication list with patients
• Contact patients with test results and provides recommendations on cases per Physician determination and/or standards of care
• Triage urgent same day or double booked appointment requests
• Document progress notes in electronic health record within 24 hours
• Manage in-basket requests and responds to all requests in a timely manner
• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• 6+ months of Nursing experience
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification
• Experience in a Gastro / GI, Operation Room, Medical-Surgical, and/or PACU setting
• Nursing experience in an Ambulatory and/or Hospital setting
• Knowledge of policies and procedures related to Infection Control, Environmental Safety and Patient Confidentiality
• Knowledge of Medical Chart reporting
• Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
• Patient oriented
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized

Desired Skills:

• Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Nursing
• Gastroenterology background
• Working knowledge of Epic EMRs
