Schedule: Saturday & Sunday, 3:45 PM – 12:00 AM
Hours: 16 hrs/week (8 hrs/day)
RTO: No RTO allowed for new contracts

 

Position Summary

The Radiologic Technologist performs radiologic treatments and delivers high-quality patient care within Brookdale’s Radiology Department. This role includes treatment delivery, equipment operation, pre-treatment planning, and patient support before and after radiologic procedures.

Primary Responsibilities Radiologic Treatment

• Deliver radiation treatments per physician instructions.
• Arrange and manage treatment appointments.
• Operate radiotherapy equipment including:
  • Cobalt Therapy Unit
  • Linear Accelerator
  • Simulator

Pre-Treatment Preparation

• Operate simulator for tumor localization.
• Take contours and gather physical factors for treatment planning.
• Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.
• Photograph patients for portal verification.

Patient Care & Support

• Recognize radiation reactions and provide appropriate care.
• Educate patients on treatment reactions and lifestyle modifications.
• Maintain safe and proper patient transport when needed.
• Keep patient management rooms neat and orderly.

Departmental & Technical Responsibilities

• Instruct Residents and technologists on equipment use.
• Construct/fabricate immobilization devices and cerrobend blocks.
• Take and develop radiographs.
• Ensure proper function and maintenance of therapy equipment.
• Coordinate with inpatient units for continuity of care.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Required Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of radiologic equipment used at BHMC.
• Strong patient-interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read and speak English clearly.
• Ability to fully utilize BHMC electronic health and billing systems.

Preferred Experience

• No experience required (new grads accepted).
• Preference: 6 months–1 year radiologic or X-ray experience.

Education

• Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic program
• Preferred:
  • None

Certifications / Licensure

• Required:

  • Certification in operation of radiologic equipment and treatments
