Description:
The Area Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of multiple ready-mix concrete plants within a defined region. This leadership role ensures efficient production, timely delivery, quality control, safety compliance, and exceptional customer service across all plant locations.
Essential Functions of the Position:
• Ensure plants achieve strategic objectives by implementing systems and directing personnel at the plants.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of all batch plants and equipment in your region to produce a quality product and adhere to all local safety and health requirements.
• Analyzes daily KPI reports and assists the regional manager in understanding variances and planning for improvements.
• Communicate with the plant manager and dispatch to ensure the timely delivery of all orders.
• Ensure that plant managers are performing daily inspections and adequately maintaining the facilities.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Ability to interact professionally with all company personnel and customers.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Extensive understanding of aggregate quality, concrete production, admixes and the significance of specific mix designs per application.
• Thorough understanding of all batch plant software, hardware, and the ability to troubleshoot issues remotely.
• Ability to diagnose and repair minor production issues remotely or at the plant.
• Ability to run equipment such as loaders, yard tractors, man lifts, etc.
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to maintain composure in high-stress scenarios and environments.
• Ability to build effective relationships with direct reports, support departments, and key customers.
• Demonstrates the ability to delegate and obtain results through others.
Requirements:
• Must have a valid Class C driver’s license.
• Driver record cannot contain any reckless driving offences, DUIs, leaving the scene of an accident, etc.
• Driver record cannot contain more than 1.5 active points in the last 36 months.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or action/discipline.
• Able to work full time and overtime if needed.
